Jonah Amedu started his Engineering career at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1988. Following his completion of the mandatory National Youth Service he joined Shell Petroleum Development Company in 1989 as a Petroleum Engineer. In 1992, Jonah Amedu returned to his Alma matar for his master's degree. He obtained his Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering (with distinction) in 1993. He has also attended several training courses both in Nigeria and abroad in the field of reservoir dynamics, leadership, project management, people’s management, project economics, investment and divestment, negotiation and conflict resolution, contract negotiation, and Corporate Social Responsibility, among others.

A COREN Registered Engineer, He is a member of the following professional bodies:

*Nigerian Institution of Petroleum Engineers (NIPetE)
*Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Worldwide
*Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Lagos Section

An ardent scholar, He has written and presented several technical papers at both local and international fora.  Some of his papers are:

An accomplished Engineering Professional and a recognised Authority in the field of Petroleum Engineering, Jonah Amedu’s extensive career transversed four continents of Africa, Europe, North America, and Middle East where he spearheaded the successful deliveries of a number of complex projects. During his time with Seplat Energy, Jonah Amedu played a pivotal role in raising the Company oil production from 18,000 bopd in 2011 to 78,000 bopd in 2013, a performance that put Seplat on solid footing locally and internationally. As an asset acquisition specialist, Jonah Amedu’s recommendation to the Seplat Board was the key to the acquisitions of additional three OMLs between 2015 and 2020.


He retired in 2022 as GM Subsurface and an Advisor to the Technical Director.

He is currently the CEO/ Principal Consultant, JONIRE SERVICES INC. He is also the CEO/MD, JONIRE PETROLEUM SERVICES (NIGERIA) LTD.

Jonah Amedu is an embodiment of integrity and Professional Ethics. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers
